A warm welcome to the Woodfield Primary School Website
There has been a school at Woodfield for over 100 years. We are based in Penn, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton and our children go on to be happy, confident learners in a number of state and private secondary settings.
I am delighted to be the Headteacher of Woodfield at a particularly exciting time in the School’s history. On September 1st 2017, the School became a proud partner of St. Bartholomew’s CE Multi Academy Trust. This outstanding school (which is also based in Penn and led by Katy Kent) has developed in the last few years into one of the country’s leading primary schools (placed at no.48 in ‘The Times Best Primary Schools’ list) and is now a small MAT intent on raising academic standards for all the children that attend its four schools. The Trust is built on support and co-operation, allowing Woodfield staff access to excellent professional development and opportunities to improve their practice. A new leadership team and a permanent, stable teaching staff are now in place and the School is in a strong position to improve further. Our Key Stage 2 results improved markedly this year, but our ambition is to make Woodfield Primary the outstanding School it was for so much of its history. Our staff are caring, professional and driven to make sure each child fulfils their potential at our school and is ready and ambitious for the next stage in their learning.
In September 2019 Woodfield Infant and Junior school amalgamated to become one school: Woodfield Primary School. Having worked very closely together for the past two years, this was a natural step to take after the promotion of the Head of school for the infants. The amalgamation allows us to integrate our curriculums further and ensure consistency in teaching from nursery right through to year six.
With a new leadership team in Key Stage one and Early Years, we aim to continue the rapid rise in results and the excellent opportunities to develop our children in all areas of the curriculum. We are very excited about the future of the school and will continue to put our children at the heart of everything that we do.
Our ethos is based around our three core values: Ambition, Belief and Courage. I have two children of my own at primary school and I know from experience that a happy, confident child, with these core values instilled in them, is a child that will learn and achieve. We are building a curriculum that challenges our children to be the best that they can be, while also providing enrichment opportunities for our children that will make memories and experiences for them that will last a lifetime. We have high expectations of our children, and we work to ensure that they all fulfil their potential, uphold British Values, and embrace and celebrate our diverse cultural community. Throughout the year, every child also takes part in our Forest Schools outdoor learning program, and there are many opportunities to enjoy and perform in music and the arts.
Our Year 4 and 6 children enjoy residential visits and we organise a series of trips and visitors throughout the School. We offer a variety of After School Clubs and facilitate private individual and group music lessons. We provide a Breakfast Club, as well as after school care until 6pm every evening. We also host a popular holiday club and intend to build on these successes. We have a very successful PTFA and our children always love the various events that they put on throughout the year.
Our school has the child at the centre of all that we do. All enquiries for admission (or to come and visit our delightful school) can be made through the school office.
