Executive Headteacher's Welcome

A warm welcome to Woodfield Primary School

I am delighted to be Headteacher of Woodfield Primary School.  There has been a school at Woodfield for over 100 years and I am therefore proud to be part of the school’s continuing history and service – providing an outstanding education for all children who attend our school.

My aim is for all children to be happy, confident and conscientious learners with an innate desire to work hard – working within a caring and nurturing environment.  The school has a progressive curriculum which is National Curriculum linked whilst being contextually linked to children’s diverse interests and personal motivations.

Excitingly, Woodfield Primary is a proud partner of St Bartholomew’s CE Multi Academy Trust and working as a family of schools, the School is pleased to be part of an outstanding Trust providing innovative professional development for its staff members.  In addition, a continual target and focus will always be upon providing teaching and learning of the highest standards to secure and build children’s knowledge and understanding thus securing their growth as mature, responsible, keen, enthusiastic and lifelong learners.

Ambition Believe Courage

Our school’s ethos is built around our core ABC values: Ambition, Belief and Courage. Having these core values at the heart of our school’s practices, children’s learning needs are met and result in them be contented and intrinsically motivated – prepared to face all challenges with bravery, courage and confidence. This teaching and learning approach deepens children’s learning whilst encouraging and nurturing their independence and readiness to approach new learning opportunities with rigour.

All staff have high expectations of children, and we work to ensure that they all fulfil their potential, uphold British Values, and embrace and celebrate our diverse cultural community. Throughout the year, children take part in our Forest Schools outdoor learning program, and there are many opportunities to enjoy and perform in music and the arts activities.

In addition to the broad and balanced curriculum, residential visits take place for Year 2, 4 and 6 children and children’s learning is further enhanced by the organisation of educational visits and invitation for visitors to come into school to work alongside children within their classroom environments.  A Breakfast Club operates as well as an after-school care facility until 6pm every evening. We also host a popular holiday club which is valued amongst our parent community.  A successful and proactive Parent Teacher Friends Association operates and we are extremely grateful for the events organised for our children’s enjoyment and pleasure.

Children remain at the heart of Woodfield Primary School and we look forward to welcoming you and working in partnership with you for your children’s lifelong journey.

All enquiries for admission (or to come and visit our delightful school) can be made through the School Office.  If you require any further information about the school, including our curriculum, please contact the School Office.  Thank you.

With best wishes, Mr S Arnold (Executive Headteacher).
